‘White America’ examines the shifting symbolism of ‘white’ and whiteness across 250 years of US history: from powdered wigs and suffragist dresses to protest uniforms and racialized identity. Inspired by Eminem’s provocative track of same title, this piece questions how whiteness has been constructed, mythologized, and commodified in shaping American power through the color white. Using hex-based pattern arranging black/white images, matched to song’s rhythm, a visual beat via minimalist structure echos. One image references a “white party,” where whiteness becomes performative and aesthetic, detached from its historical weight. Or does it? The contrast highlights white and whiteness moves between invisibility, protest and spectacle across US history— inviting reflection how the symbolism of white continues to evolve. Whose stories are told, who is centered. It is a meditation on legacy, exclusion, and reckoning— offered in rhythm and restraint.
