Intaglio soft ground, dry point, and aquatint print

While traveling along an isolated road in Utah I passed abandoned farm houses, buildings, and fences. All collapsed from disuse and neglect. It dawned on me, then, and verified later, that in the late 1960s thousands of sheep died in this valley from a chemical release at the Dugway Proving Grounds. After the sheep kill the farmers had to abandon their farms and leave the valley. The moonlight lit the arid valley and a few stars shined like ghosts in the clear night sky. The contrast in light seemed a good subject for intaglio.
